You want to train your brain to be more positive, but how exactly do you go about doing that? In addition to working on your thoughts and thought patterns, you need to take some actions to help jolt your brain into positive territory.

These three methods are some of the easiest and most powerful for beginners to use.

What Will Give You Joy?

When was the last time you did something just because it gave you joy? If you are like most adults in our society, it has probably been a while. Our society treats joy and happiness as inconsequential things you get if you are lucky.

It is time to stop that. Joy is one of the most important things in the universe and one of the best ways to make yourself more positive. What gives you joy? What are the things that make your heart and soul sing? Make a list and then go out and do them. If you have no idea, it is time to start experimenting until you do!

Train Your Brain to be More Positive by Paying It Forward

This is more than a cliché or a way to pay for other people’s food. Spreading good things in the world by giving them to other people is a great way to make them feel better and to make yourself more positive.

You do not have to go through a drive-thru or even spend money to “pay it forward.” Start doing nice things for people every day. Both people you know and strangers. Give someone a compliment, help them with something, buy a dozen flowers and give them away to strangers. Do something nice and kind and you will reap the rewards.

Give Positive Feedback

This method follows directly on the heels of the one above. Everyone likes to be told they did a good job or are good at something. For our purposes, though, it also feels good to give someone positive feedback. It makes you happy and more positive.

How can you use this to your advantage? Find some way to give at least one person positive feedback each day. This will probably have to be people you know and may be easier or harder depending on your living situation but focus on finding a way to do it for at least a week and you will be surprised how much more positive you become.
